The Novodevichy Convent is an ensemble of the fortified monasteries for noble women built between the 16th and 17th centuries. Its interior decorations, frescoes, icons and tapestries have been preserved in a perfect state, making the Novodevichy Convent one of the most beautiful monasteries of Russia. During your visit to the monastery you may attend the Russian orthodox service in the Cathedral of Our Lady of Smolensk and see the graves of Russia’s most important political and public persons, besides famous artists, writers and scientists at the old cemetery of the Convent. -
